The anti-corruption task force held another meeting on Friday at the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice. At this round of consultations conducted with the participation of civil organisations, including representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce, the Budapest Corvinus University, the Budapest Institute, the Forum of Civic Cooperation, the Council of Geopolitics Foundation, the Magyar Conquest 2000 Society, the Joint Venture Alliance, the K-Monitor Public Association, the Hungarian Civil Liberties Union, Transparency International Hungary and átlásztó.hu, attendees discussed issues concerning the protection of whistleblowers.

Nationaler Gedenktag für die Vertreibung der Ungarndeutschen

Der nationalen Gedenktag für die Vertreibung der Ungarndeutschen wurde heute im Rahmen einer staatlichen Gedenkfeier zum ersten Mal veranstaltet. Die Kränze der Erinnerung wurden in Schaumar niedergelegt, eine Siedlung die schwer von diesem dunklen Kapitel unserer gemeinsamen Geschichte betroffen war.

János Lázár on remembering the Holocaust: We must confront the past and ask for forgiveness

"2014, Holocaust commemoration year, must be the year of confronting the past and asking for forgiveness" the State Secretary heading the Prime Minister's Office told Hungarian news agency MTI on Wednesday following the founding session of the Holocaust Memorial Committee. According to János Lázár, facing the past means the incorporating into law of the command to remember and the prohibition of forgetting, while asking for forgiveness must be made part of the national identity.

The Government is to establish the Hungarian Holocaust 2014 Memorial Committee

2014 will be the 70th anniversary of the darkest chapter in the Hungarian holocaust, the extermination of Hungarian Jews. For reasons of mourning and remembrance, and to increase awareness of the tragic events of 1944, on the recommendation of Hungarian Jewish organisations and based on the proposal of the Prime Minister, the Government is to establish the Hungarian Holocaust Memorial 2014 Committee.
