A commemorative meeting was held in Budapest, on the Day of the Hungarian Language. Those present at the Petőfi Literary Museum spoke of what the Hungarian language means to them. The event was organised by the Ministry of Human Resources, the Hungarian Academy of Arts and the Association for Promotion of the Mother Tongue.

The aim of the funding is to contribute to the strengthening of civil society and to assist civil society organisations in taking up a role in society. At the same time, the results have been announced of the 2012 calls for applications from specialists, which will distribute a total of HUF 854 million to realise the specialist programmes of civil society organisations.

More than 6,400 people living with disabilities are enjoying the benefits of the rehabilitation card, and 3,800 employers in Hungary are using the bonuses which have been available since 1 January 2012. The rehabilitation card, which has been reintroduced as part of the restructuring of the support system, helps jobseekers find employment in the open labour market, and also encourages employers to take on workers with disabilities and reduced work capabilities.

The exhibition commemorates diplomats who rescued many persecuted Jews during the Second World War by risking, and even at times sacrificing, their own lives.

At a conference in Budapest organised last Friday by the body’s preparatory board and another association, Miklós Szócska also said that the draft decree on creation of the Forum is in the public administration checking phase.
Pál Szekeres, Deputy Minister of State for Sport at the Ministry of Human Resources, welcomed participants at an open day in Debrecen for wheelchair users. At the event two silver medallist Paralympic fencers displayed their skills in wheelchair fencing.
