Miklós Soltész: the Government is providing those living with disability with tens of billions of forints in support

Publicated on: November 16, 2012

On Tuesday, in a video on the Government’s website, the Minister of State for Social Affairs said that the Government is providing tens of billions of forints of support to those living with disability and their carers, through grant procedures which have already been announced or which will soon be announced within the new Széchenyi Plan.

Miklós Soltész said that these grants apply to several areas – for example employment, early development and improvement in accessibility. The Minister of State added that civil society organisations will also receive separate funding of around HUF 400 million, which is further proof that support for social services is assured.

In its statement the Office of the Minister of State announced that the Government has focused attention on improving the quality of life of those living with disability, and will strive to do so in the future. Therefore in 2013 it will also ensure the support which in 2012 was supplied through the services of institutions operated by civil society bodies to those living with disability, psychiatric disorder or addiction. The Office of the Minister of State added that it sees the sustainable, transparent and just financing of social services to be extremely important. This year civil society organisations have received more than HUF 21 billion in normative financing for services provided in social, child welfare and child protection institutions. The Government plans to provide this sum of funding in 2013.

It was further stated that this government is the first to provide a separate budget line for institutions dealing with underprivileged people with autism; this sum is HUF 95 million.
