The Ministry of Interior has done a successful work over the past two years by organizing public employment, expanding the number of police forces, establishing the national network of disaster management and helping citizens by creating a new and easier system of public administration – said Minister of Interior Sándor Pintér in Kecskemét at a press conference about the past two years’ work.
This year, in the spirit of the Year of Child-friendly Justice, a number of legislative changes concerning judicial procedures have been enacted to protect children. As a result of amendments to the Criminal Code children will receive greater protection, with the new Code containing heavy penalties for offences against children. Furthermore, the Government also seeks to ensure a child-centred approach in authorities’ administrative proceedings: in child protection cases these can be accelerated to halve their length, and authorities will be required to provide information to children in a form which is appropriate to their level of maturity. The Ministry of Public Administration and Justice will submit these bills to the National Assembly in the near future.

The Child-friendly Justice Programme is one year old. To mark this anniversary, there will be a day-long extravaganza for children and their families, with living maze adventure games, interactive theatre games, concerts and theatre performances. The event will take place in the Teátrum in Millenáris Park on 24 November, and it is also linked to International Children's Rights Day.
