The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary is paying particular attention to the situation of Mr. Előd Tóásó, who has been unlawfully detained in Bolivia for more than four years.
The Ministry urges the quick and fair completion of the procedure without any political interference, and the release of Mr Tóásó in accordance with Bolivian law.
During the past few days, the Hungarian Diplomatic Corps has again called on Bolivian authorities to respect the human rights of Mr. Tóásó and has asked to receive continuous information about the status of the court case. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary has again requested the assistance of the local representative of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in the case, as well as for the intervention of the competent EU authorities. The Hungarian Diplomatic Corps is exploring the possibility of cooperation with other European countries involved in the court case.
