The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary has condemned the recent assassination of Tunisian opposition politician Mohamed Brahmi, who was a member of the Constitutional Assembly, and expressed concern over the latest trends in Tunisia.

In a statement issued on July 30, 2013 the Ministry expressed its hope that Tunisia would continue efforts to develop the rule of law, draft the constitution and hold general elections in the near future, thereby crowning its transition to democracy.

Hungary continues to support Tunisia’s transformation and hopes that the country’s political forces and civil society will jointly halt the spread of politically motivated violence and extremist ideas.
