Access to funds of the new funding period of the EEA and Norway Grants to open

Approximately HUF 40 billion in support will soon be available within the framework of the EEA and Norway Grants. In order to mark the event the National Development Agency and the Royal Norwegian Embassy organised an official opening conference in Budapest. Information on the objectives of the Funds and expected support will be given by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norway’s ambassador to Budapest as well as representatives of the Ministry for National Development and the National Development Agency.

Minister Balog testifies in alleged Roma school segregation case

Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog testified in front of the Nyíregyháza Court with relation ot the case of the Miklós Sója Kindergarten and Elementary School, run by the Greek Catholic Church. The Chance for Children Foundation (CFCF) has sued both the local government and the church, demanding closure of the institution that, according to CFCF, segregates Roma children.

The 11th March of the Living in Budapest

The 11th March of the Living, commemorating the victims of Holocaust, took place along the Danube in Budapest on the 21st of April. The aim of the event was also to support the reinforcement of a Hungary that is free of racism and extremism. Around 20,000-25,000 people took part in the peaceful remembrance march. Among the participants were Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog, Fidesz parliamentary faction leader Antal Rogán, and several foreign diplomats and state officials.

Hungary and Germany to launch joint Roma programmes

Hungary and Germany will soon launch several Roma programmes, Human Resources Minister Zoltan Balog said in Berlin on Thursday after talks with German officials. The Minister, who is on an official visit to Germany, met with Ministers of State Cornelia Pieper and Eckart von Kladen, as well as with Romani Rose, President of the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma.
