The Government has appointed State Secretary in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office János Lázár to prepare and coordinate the professional tasks related to the settlement of the financial compensation claims of Jewish communities as well as cultural, educational, historical fact-revealing and tradition-keeping activities concerning Jewish communities.

According to the resolution, the task of State Secretary János Lázár is among others to discuss compensation claims with the representatives of Jewish communities in relation to deceased victims with no successors. He is in charge of coordinating the negotiations on the settlement of these claims as well as dialogue between ministries.

The State Secretary will hold negotiations with representatives of Jewish organizations regularly, on at least a quarterly basis.

It has also been declared recently that Holocaust survivors' life annuities are to increase by 50 percent from January, 2013.
