Minister of Human Resources Balog and Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Torgeir Larsen at a press conference prior to the start of a two-day Council of Europe conference to tackle hate speech.
Minister Balog emphasised that the political elite has great responsibility in driving back hate speech, but added that the underlying reasons should also be analysed. Deputy Foreign Minister Larsen also welcomed that the Government condemned the recent comments of a Jobbik MP in Parliament, while Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland underlined that the spreading of hate speech on the internet should be stopped.
