Ministry of Human Resources to announce a 860 million forints tender for homeless care

In a months’ time, the Ministry of Human Resources will call another tender for the integration and social support of the homeless, the State Secretary for Social, Family and Youth Affairs stated on Wednesday.

State Secretary Miklós Soltész said that organisations can apply to receive support for providing complex services to the homeless under the scheme worth 860 million forints (EUR 3.03m).

He said the scheme for facilities providing accommodation for homeless people, training and finding jobs is open for regions other than central Hungary.

Under a previous scheme the region of Central Hungary received 450 million forints for homeless care and other regions 680 million, the State Secretary noted.

This year the Government has earmarked 8.5 billion forints (EUR 30m) to spend on services for the homeless, State Secretary Soltész noted, adding that the "Heated Streets" project for their day and night-time care had been supported with an additional 500 million forints.

During the winter, homeless shelters across the country are capable of providing accommodation to 10700 people, he said.
