Radicalism, extremism, and terrorism are intertwined, and that is why the spread of radicalism itself in a society must be prevented, Minister Martonyi said, opening an international conference on terrorism prevention in Budapest.

The ever growing threat is two-fold: terrorists carrying out acts alone and the emergence of new terrorist groups, Minister Martonyi said.

He noted that the internet was an easy-access forum for terrorist recruitment. This has focused heightened attention on the significance of prevention in combating terrorism, he added.
