The Buda Central District Court scheduled the hearing of László Csatáry as a witness for June 4 in relation to the Holocaust lawsuit against the State of Hungary and state railway company MÁV launched in the United States of America in 2010. The action was filed in Washington D.C. in 2010 in the name of Holocaust survivors and victims. During the proceedings Hungary was represented by the Ministry of National Development.

The hearing was held following an application for legal assistance at the request of the American court, but László Csatáry failed to appear at the hearing for health reasons.

Although today's hearing was adjourned, the acting Hungarian judge drew the witness's attention to all opportunities provided according to Hungarian civil law and with regard to the possibility of being heard at his place of abode, which could lead to facts that may be relevant from the perspective of the procedure underway in the United States coming to light as soon as possible.

Following the hearing on legal assistance, lawyer Charles Fax, representing the plaintiff, said he was satisfied with the fairness of the procedure and expressed his thanks to the Court for having assisted in obtaining the information requested by the plaintiff.

The consistent standpoint of the State of Hungary is that it would be justified to hold the trial in Hungary.
