Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi will be arriving in Budapest on 13 September, and Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang is scheduled to visit Hungary on 15 September, Deputy State Secretary for Global Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Péter Wintermantel announced today.
At a press briefing, the Deputy State Secretary said that Aung San Suu Kyi’s two-day visit would include talks with President of the Republic János Áder as well as with Foreign Minister János Martonyi and State Secretary Zsolt Németh at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She will also hold a lecture at Budapest’s Corvinus University.
Hungary supports Myanmar’s democratic process and appreciates the opposition’s contribution to the changes, Péter Wintermantel stated. He added that Hungary was ready to share its experiences with Myanmar, and noted that five delegates from the Asian country were currently in Hungary to study the operating of Parliament, the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court and the State Audit Office.
The Vietnamese President will spend four days in Hungary, and will hold talks with President of the Republic János Áder and Mayor of Budapest István Tarlós. He will open an exhibition of Vietnamese ceramics at the Museum of Ethnography on Monday and address a Vietnamese–Hungarian business forum on 17 September.
During Truong Tan Sang’s visit, several bilateral agreements will also be signed, including nuclear, water management, health, judicial, as well as cultural and sports cooperation agreements, the Hungarian Deputy State Secretary for Global Affairs said.
