Following the attacks in France that have killed at least 128 people, the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights expresses its sadness and sympathy with the families and friends of those who died or were injured.

"These attacks were acts of barbarism, and our thoughts are with all those close to the victims," said EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) interim Director Constantinos Manolopoulos. "But both France and the EU as a whole are sending a clear message that such acts cannot and will not shake our firm commitment to democracy, equality and respect for human rights."

In this context, FRA stresses the fact that all security responses must fully respect fundamental rights, as further evidence that these attacks have failed to achieve their aim.
