Simon, Head of the National Assembly’s Committee on Cultural and Press Affairs announced on Monday.

The objective of the initiative is to increase public awareness of the Memorial Year and its goals through the involvement of Hungarian Jewish communities, to facilitate the presentation of historical facts and to encourage the active participation of civil organisations.

The main areas covered by the funding programme include social commemorative events, the presentation of Jewish traditions, events related to the Radnóti Memorial Day, academic publications on the Hungarian Holocaust, art projects and scholarships in spirit of the Memorial Year. The goal is to support the widest possible range of programmes. Applications must be submitted by 15 November 2013.
